INSERIES: St. John the Baptist
From the pen of one of the most audacious, salacious, and extraordinary composers ever to live (whose life was so fantastical that multiple operas were composed about it), comes this 17th century version of the biblical Salome story. Every bit as compelling, gruesome, and at once horrifying and intoxicating as the Oscar Wilde play written over two centuries later, this oratorio has become infamous for its incredible score, unlike any other music, and its dramatic power. It marked even the concert debut of a young Maria Callas in 1947 singing the role of the stepdaughter Salome who demands of Herod the head of John the Baptist, and will do anything to get it. Written as a concert work, this production marks the first time Stradella's masterpiece is brought to life on the stage. World Premiere Staging in collaboration with New York's Catapult Opera; Music by Alessandro Stradella; New English Text by Bari Biern; Stage and Music Direction by Timothy Nelson. Design by Josh Sticklin, Yannick Godts, Oana Botez. Featuring: Hayley Abramowitz, Andrew Adelsberger, Daniel Moody, Dawna Rae Warren, Greg Sliskovich. For additional information and reservations:

Friday, October 10, 2025, 7:30 pm Sunday, October 12, 2025, 3:00 pm Opera Baltimore: Puccini's Tosca Opera Baltimore's 2025–2026 season explores a timeless truth:
Some truths are whispered. Others roar. This season, the truth sings in whispers, in roars, in
voices too powerful to ignore. We're bringing you three operas that dive deep into love, betrayal,
power, and revelation: High drama. Big love. Bigger consequences.
Tosca is a famous singer in love with a revolutionary artist. When a corrupt police chief sets a
trap, she's forced to choose between love, loyalty, and survival. This opera is fast-paced,
heart-wrenching, and filled with soaring, cinematic music including some of the most famous arias
ever written. If opera were a thriller, Tosca would be the ultimate blockbuster. Fully-Staged Opera

love on her own terms. Radiant soprano Louise Alder is her sister, Zdenka, and bass-baritone Tomasz
Konieczny is the dashing count who sweeps Arabella off her feet. A transcript of the transmission
will also be available to view after the live performance. Saturday, December 13,

5BMF: PUBLIQuartet: What is American: Rhythm Nation
5 Boroughs Music Festival. The follow-up to PUBLIQuartet,s GRAMMY®-nominated What Is American project, What Is American: Rhythm Nationcelebrates American rhythmic traditions as expressions of bodily autonomy and tacit history keeping. From the propulsive beat-breaks of Daniel Bernard Roumain,s Hip-Hop Etudes to the shifting textures of Andy Akiho,s Quartet No. 1 “Mobile on a Stream into the Sound,” this wide-ranging exploration also features new works by Jeff Scott, Mazz Swift, and Eddie Venegas, commissioned with the support of a 2024 Chamber Music America Artistic Projects grant. Each of the pieces on the program evokes a distinct rhythmic world, reflecting the plurality of American movement(s) and protecting the unspoken spirit of their lineage,s narratives.
